Our Solace Counseling Team

Alexis Combest, M.A.

Does parenting feel harder than you ever imagined?
Are your kids pushing your buttons, refusing homework or chores, or having constant meltdowns? Do school calls about behavior leave you stressed and anxious? Maybe sibling fights, screen time battles, or constant chaos at home have you feeling overwhelmed. You want the best for your children and your family, but instead of peace and connection, it feels like every day is a struggle. You don’t have to face this alone.

I help children and families move from conflict and stress to connection and confidence. Together, we’ll work through challenges with behavior, anxiety, trauma, and family communication so your home can feel calmer and more joyful. I also specialize in supporting families navigating autism, ADHD, and sensory issues—helping kids build on their strengths, improve self-esteem, and thrive in school, at home, and in relationships.

As a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor, I bring advanced training in child development and therapeutic play to my work with children and families. I am also trained in EMDR, TBRI, Filial Therapy, DBT, and CBT, which allows me to tailor treatment to each child’s age, personality, and unique needs. My approach is collaborative and ecosystemic—I work closely with parents, families, and schools to create lasting change and support.

I hold a B.A. in Psychology and an M.Ed. in Counseling and Human Development with a specialization in Play Therapy from the University of North Texas, where I trained under Dr. Gary Landreth. My experience spans non-profit counseling, residential treatment centers, and psychiatric hospital settings. In addition to my professional role, I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 30 years, and together we’ve raised three young adult children—so I understand firsthand the challenges and joys of parenting.
