Emily Dahlin, Graduate Student Intern
Supervised by Alexis Combest M.A. LPC-S
Life is unpredictable! Transitions into school, struggle with routines, unexplainable meltdowns, tension that trickles down the family. The new age of parenting brings a million opinions about what you “should” be doing as a parent, but what actually works for your child? Your family? You? Nobody should be expected to walk through all of the messes and joys that life holds alone.
I have a heart for working with children and believe that every child deserves a space where they feel safe, understood, capable, and seen. My approach is collaborative and person-centered in nature. I am intentional about taking into account every piece of the puzzle, whether that be home, school, peer relationships, or family dynamics. My goal is to support your family on your walk towards peace and connection.
I have 2 years of experience working as a Registered Behavioral Technician in the East Texas area. In this role, I supported children with Autism Spectrum Disorder as they developed their social skills, increased their independence, and improved their self-regulation abilities. I have experience working with children ages 2-13 using this approach. These experiences have served to strengthen my beliefs in children’s inherent ability for growth, their desire for connection, and their capacity for resilience.
I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Texas at Tyler in 2024 and am currently pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from UT Tyler as well. I will be serving at Solace as a Master’s Student Intern under the direct supervision of Alexis Combest, LPC-S, RPT-S.
Areas of Interest: Neurodivergence, Behavioral Issues, Social Emotional Learning, Self-Esteem, and Attachment.
